Delayed starts in consulting and impact on this year’s campus recruiting

Last week’s Wall Street Journal article by Lindsay Ellis highlights the delayed start dates facing recent graduates/incoming new consultants at management consulting firms in the US. While not included in the article, delayed start dates coupled with anticipated high accepted offers from summer 2023 internships is dampening the firms’ fall campus recruiting for full-time consultants and could impact the class sizes for summer 2024 interns. Present feedback from recruiters indicates they anticipate start dates for May 2024 grads will return to historic norms.
