Still seeking an opportunity in the investment banking industry? Although most of the recruitment happens in the Fall semester, Spring offers both full-time and internship opportunities. Here is what to expect and tips for success:
Full-Time
- Full-Time campus recruitment opportunities are rare in the spring semester
- Graduating students with previous IB experience may qualify for just-in-time hiring and lateral roles
- Tip: Keep an eye on your target firms for experienced hire/lateral openings
Internship
- Some firms conduct their summer internship interviews in January, and offer additional internship spots if their headcount goals are not met, creating additional summer opportunities for still-seeking students
- Tip: Ensure that you are opted-in to the Yale SOM resume book in CMS and that your profile is complete (including preferred city/location) to ensure you are included in resume book pulls
Pro tips and recruitment resources
- Don’t limit your search to the US only. Research opportunities in APAC and EMEA regions as they tend to have more off-cycle opportunities
- Spring semester hiring happens at a faster pace in comparison to the Fall semester, so be prepared by ensuring your application materials (resume, cover letter, etc.) are updated and ready to share
