What to expect from Spring semester IB recruiting

Still seeking an opportunity in the investment banking industry? Although most of the recruitment happens in the Fall semester, Spring offers both full-time and internship opportunities. Here is what to expect and tips for success:

Full-Time

  • Full-Time campus recruitment opportunities are rare in the spring semester
  • Graduating students with previous IB experience may qualify for just-in-time hiring and lateral roles
  • Tip: Keep an eye on your target firms for experienced hire/lateral openings

Internship

  • Some firms conduct their summer internship interviews in January, and offer additional internship spots if their headcount goals are not met, creating additional summer opportunities for still-seeking students
  • Tip: Ensure that you are opted-in to the Yale SOM resume book in CMS and that your profile is complete (including preferred city/location) to ensure you are included in resume book pulls

Pro tips and recruitment resources

  • Don’t limit your search to the US only. Research opportunities in APAC and EMEA regions as they tend to have more off-cycle opportunities
  • Spring semester hiring happens at a faster pace in comparison to the Fall semester, so be prepared by ensuring your application materials (resume, cover letter, etc.) are updated and ready to share
