Welcome Class of 2027 Admits!

Congratulations and welcome to Yale SOM!

We have heard amazing things about you from Admissions and look forward to getting to know you soon. I expect for most of you, the next few months will be full wrapping up your current employment, moving to a new city (and country for many of you), and getting ready for your next chapter, Yale SOM. You may be eager to get started working on the career moves you plan to make during business school, which is great. Here are some valuable steps you can take right now…

  • The MBA Career Page is your dynamic hub for all career information and resources throughout your time at Yale SOM
    • Get to know the site, explore resources, watch student and alumni videos (some resources will only be available once you’re an active Yale student later this spring – many are accessible to you now)
  • Strengthen your current professional relationships
    • Before leaving your current role, make a point to have lunch/ coffee/ connect with colleagues
      • Already left? It’s not too late – reach out to connect anyway!
    • Focus on the quality of relationships
    • Reach out to people in departments you’re interested in – even if you don’t know them yet (people love when people want to learn about what they do) – heading to school soon is a great excuse to explore!
    • Reconnect with past colleagues and classmates – update them on your career and future goals
  • Research MBA career paths – even if you think you know exactly what you’re coming to school to do
  • If you’re interested in pre-MBA employer programming
    • Understand what you’re looking for – skills, early access – most established programs are “day in a life” brief experiences, and you can participate in multiple ones – most students succeed without participating in any though!
    • Put your resume in the Yale SOM template (https://cdo.som.yale.edu/channels/resume-cover-letter-story/)
    • Update your LinkedIn profile to include Yale SOM (admitted/ incoming student)

The CDO is excited to work with you, beginning this June. Until then, you’re welcome to utilize our dynamic website – you can sign yourself up for alerts and/ or check back periodically.

To your success! ~Abigail and the CDO Team
