Insights for Employers: Campus Edition (Part 4)

Part 4: Expand Your Brand to Drive Recruiting Success
Welcome to the final installment of our Yale SOM Insights for Employers: Campus Edition series, where we highlight creative, effective, and resource-conscious campus recruiting strategies we’ve seen in action. This edition focuses on two ideas to expand your recruiting brand.

Tip 1: Recruit beyond the MBA

Most employers recruiting at U.S. based graduate business schools are looking for traditional MBA students. In addition to our top-ranked MBA, Yale School of Management also offers a number of one-year graduate business degrees. Students in these programs span early-career through post-MBA experience levels, and some specialize in areas such as Asset Management or Technology Management. These students may make ideal candidates for specific needs at your organization. And similar to recruiting students in different programs across Yale (referenced in Part 1 of this series when sharing how to make the most of your visit to New Haven), you can make the most of recruiting at Yale SOM by expanding your audience. Already a number of organizations actively recruit concurrently students in both the MBA and the Masters in Advanced Management programs.

Tip 2: Recruit for multiple functions, even beyond the expected

If you typically recruit at business schools for one function, expanding efforts to recruit more  functions is an efficient way to broaden student interest in your organization and recruiting success for your efforts. Recent examples of recruiting teams expanding beyond the “expected” include:

  • An investment bank now hiring from campus for asset managers and risk managers
  • A tech firm recruiting for corporate strategy roles
  • A CPG organization expanding beyond brand management to also recruit for corporate finance, corporate strategy & most recently, sustainability roles

Final thought: Growth is good! The Yale SOM CDO is here to help grow your recruiting success!
