What does the Employer Partnerships Team do for you?

The CDO’s Employer Partnerships Team (EPT) is a 9-person team working “behind-the-scenes” to help students shine and succeed in their individual recruiting. EPT is primarily employer-facing. Below is some information about  how we engage employers, ACT on behalf of students, and keep you informed.

Meet the Employer Partnerships Team (EPT)

The EPT has two parts. The industry-aligned Employer Partnership Managers (EPMs) liaise with employers to understand their recruiting approach and advise on their strategy at Yale SOM, as well as reach out to get to know new employers. The EPT Operations team supports all the logistics to make these employer partnerships work and compiles much of the recruiting data that drives hiring resources such as Who Went Where files, the Yale SOM MBA Employment Report, salary reports, offer timeline reports, and more. All of this useful information is available to students.

Check out our friendly faces on the EPT team profile and learn more about the communication channels EPT uses to share information with students in our student communication guide (more on this below as well).

How EPT partners with employers

We work with employers of all industries, sizes, geographies, and ages with one goal in mind: to advance partnerships with employers by being a trusted advisor and providing value at every interaction such that a contact at every employer is eager to hear from, respond to, and connect with the CDO. To do this, we speak to continuing employers and reach out to new ones every day.

How EPT ACTs on behalf of students

While most of EPT’s time is spent with employers, students absolutely are our priority. EPT works to ease the recruiting process by making real employer connections and sharing employer insights so students & alumni spend their time on connecting and forwarding their candidacy. What we do:

  1. Advocate for you by educating employers about student interests and degrees, informing employers of student preferences and perspectives in the recruiting process, sharing past student successes to guide future employer plans, and sharing current student resumes for immediate recruiting needs
  2. Connect you with employers through multi-employer networking events (6 in Fall alone!) scheduling, marketing, and supporting hundreds of employer events, coffee chats, and interviews, promoting even more job postings, and ensuring current contact information to ease student outreach
  3. Transfer recruiting insights, mechanics, and tips from employers to you by sharing industry information on what to expect for the coming year’s recruiting and notable updates, specific employer information from past engagements and job postings to current contacts and conversation recaps, to job specific information on application and interview tips.

EPT shares information with students through a variety of channels

EPT has an intentional multi-media communication strategy. Our student communication guide outlines these media and includes tips for students to get the relevant information in easy ways. In summary, EPT uses:

  • CDO website: EPT blogs on industry-specific information and trends
  • CMS: company specific activity notes, contacts, current and past events and jobs
  • Slack: announcements of new blogs, activity notes, and contacts willing to help plus time-sensitive messages
  • Emails: relevant event and job updates targeted to students based on their CMS profile, logistics updates for registered events and interviews, and time-sensitive messages

I hope this profile showcases the variety of ways – both obvious and behind-the-scenes – that the CDO supports you and your search – from all the EPT employer engagements and knowledge transfer outlined above that complements that personal guidance and direct 1:1 support from the Career Education & Coaching team. The CDO truly is dedicated to our vision to Empower Dynamic Careers. Explore, Educate and Thrive Together!
