Insights for Students: Maximize your networking event participation

The CDO hosts career networking events throughout the year to foster student and employer connections. For some employers this is their only recruiting touchpoint with Yale SOM and for others it is part of a multi-event recruiting approach. In either case, these networking events are a great step in building a recruiting relationship with a potential employer. Read on for event details and tips to make the most of your participation!

Networking events 101:

  • HireSOM is the brand name of Yale SOM-hosted multi-employer career networking events.
  • Yale SOM co-hosts networking events with other schools under different branding
  • Events are typically open to all Yale SOM students, but in some cases are focused on specific industries, functions, and/or student audiences
  • There is no cost for students or employers to participate
  • Format is typically 60-90 minutes and either virtual on Zoom or in-person at a venue

Find and register for Yale SOM hosted networking events in CMS by clicking Events > Advanced Search > Event Type > Multi-Employer Event Type

Resources to maximize your participation:

  • Get insight on registered employers by accessing their registration details in CMS
    • Pro-Tip 1: visit the employer’s profile in CMS for current and past notes, hiring information, and more
    • Pro-Tip 2: check the registered employers tab of an event regularly as new registrations are often submitted up until the day of the event
