Summer 2026 Career Information for MBAs

Your Yale SOM career journey begins now. Mark your calendar and join the Career Development Office (CDO) for a comprehensive and dynamic learning experience designed to enhance your professional development as you embark on your MBA career journey. Our summer series combines live sessions, recorded content, and opportunities to engage with Career Coaches live and through Slack, offering a flexible approach to fit your schedule. In the initial live session, we will dive into the role the CDO plays in supporting your career exploration. The recorded sessions will focus mastering the art of storytelling to effectively communicate your skills and experiences and building networking skills to make new connections and opportunities.

This year’s summer series will lead directly into our interactive sessions during Orientation and Fall Friday Curriculum. Below, please find a detailed list of sessions and resources available to you starting in June.

REQUIRED LIVE SESSIONS & RECORDINGS

Register now for the required live session for incoming MBA Students, focusing on MBA-level recruiting and partnership with CDO.

Log into Canvas to access required recorded sessions on Crafting Your Story, Navigating Coffee Chats, Your Outreach, and Preparing for Interviews. These recorded sessions will include a short assessment.

NOTE: Students entering the MBA Program as Silver Scholars, can also register and attend short targeted sessions:

MBA PROGRAM ASK COACHES ANYTHING

Bring your questions or stop by to hear others’ questions about career paths, job search strategies, summer focus, and more. Our experienced coaches will share their expertise, offer advice, and help participants begin to understand and navigate the complex world of MBA career development.

INDIVIDUAL COACHING APPOINTMENTS

Coaching appointments for incoming MBA students will begin on Monday, June 8. Coaching appointments can focus on topics including personal branding, goal framing, target list creation, search strategy and interview prep. We encourage you to attend the CDO Partnership Live Session ahead of your first appointment.

ORIENTATION AND FALL PROGRAMMING

  • All incoming students will also engage with the CDO during Orientation sessions on:
    • Tuesday, August 18 – 3:00pm-3:45pm ET
    • Friday, August 21 – 9:00am-12:00pm ET
    • Monday, August 24 – 12:00pm-12:45pm ET
  • Incoming MBA Students should also be aware of required CDO programming from 9:am-2:00pm on the following Fridays – September 11, September 18, September 25.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT WEBSITE & CDO-PROVIDED RESOURCES

  • The Career Development Website is a publicly-available resource with information, training, guides, and other resources for all students and alumni. Content is regularly updated and is searchable and is grouped by Program, Industry, Affinity, Career Skills, and About the CDO. Content types include:
    • Static career overviews
    • Upcoming events from the Career Management System, Campus Groups, and around Yale
    • Career-related blogs
    • Video training and informational content
    • Skill-building experience opportunities
    • Skill and Industry Guides
    • Job Boards
    • And more!
      *Set up a Custom Alert for the Career Development Website to receive updates on newly-added content
  • Additionally, the Career Development Website has CDO-provided Resources exclusively for Yale SOM students, such as AI-driven resume prep (Vmock), industry/function-specific interview and skill-building prep (Wall Street Prep, Rocketblocks, Exponent), and more.

CAREER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (CMS)

Along with the Career Development Website, the Career Management System (CMS) is the go-to resource for Yale SOM students’ careers. Use CMS to:

  • Make coaching appointments
  • Share your resume with potential employers through Resume Books (later this summer)
  • Find upcoming recruiting and professional development events
  • Research companies of interest and find contacts
  • Search job postings for internships and full-time
  • Research job trends for SOM and b-school students, including types of roles, salary ranges, and offer timelines
  • And more!

CDO SLACK

All Yale SOM students also have access to Slack for communications across the school. CDO has created industry and program-specific channels for quick updates and to share job postings and events of note, as well as the #cdo-coaches channel to share resources and for your quick career-related questions.

EXPLORE YOUR INTERESTS / SELF ASSESSMENT

In addition to CDO programming, incoming students are encouraged to take time over the summer to explore the options available to them and to assess their own skills, interests, and values. Use the CDO website, including the MBA Page and Explore Your Interests / Self Assessment pages to find resources to learn more about industries of interest and reflect on your own goals and values.
